flushing the transmision V70-XC70 2004

Our '04 V70 2.5T has a 5 speed automatic. The car has 70,000 miles on it and the transmission fluid looks dark. The owners manual lists it as an AW5 transmission that requires Volvo trans fluid 1161540-8. Is this stuff the same as the Mobil 3309 fluid ?

All the instructions for flushing the trans oil at home say to run out two quarts, add two through the dipstick hole, and repeat until the fluid is clean. Is there a reason not to add the oil to the top fitting on the cooler to flush that out also ?

Are there any tips, tricks, techniques that will make the job easier ?
