Battery holddowns 850 1996

A new plastic hold down is really cheap at the dealer. It keeps the battery from sliding from side to side, if you can figure out how to put a new one back in place :)

The rear lip on the battery tray keeps the battery from tipping forward.

I cannot imagine a missing hold down would help the battery discharge. A loose battery could cause the red wires to crack or become weak, a good inspection would clear that up.

Have you tried pulling fuses, one at a time, to localize any draw? Check the circuit for the security system by locking the car with the hood up.
