Starting Problems -- Again S60 2001

The newer cars have a message display, I am not sure your S60 is new enough.

Yes, you can always bypass the starter switch in the ignition with a button switch discreetly located under the dash. Turn the key to POSII and push button.

There is a spare wire near the driver's fender behind the air cleaner (green, I think) that can be used to "hot wire" the starter. Mechanics can use this to remotely start the engine while in the engine bay.

The immobilizer ring is fairly cheap to fix, btw.
