Oil change interval question XC90 2004

I have a 2004 xc90 awd with the 2.5t engine (71.5K miles). The owners manual calls for oil changes every 7500 miles. I use mobil 1 5-30 synthetic during the winter and generally switch to 10w-30 for April-November/December. Is it advisable to change the oil more frequently than called for in the owner's manual (I have gotten into the habit of changing every 3-5 K miles using synthetic), or is that just a waste of money (and oil)?

Same question goes, I guess, for my '98 v70 AWD (113K miles). Thanks
