Oil change interval question XC90 2004

Thanks Klaus,

The XC90 manual says to go with 5W-30 unless the ambient temp is above 86 degrees (or unless I drive for extended times in the mountains or use the car for towing--neither applies). In Vermont, the temp goes above 86 for about 2 or three weeks out of the year. Should I go with the 5W 30 synthetic year-round for both cars? If so, is it OK to take the car on a trip to, say, South Carolina in warm weather, or should I run different oil for such a trip.

Thanks again for the good advice!
