I added a third brake light to my '95 854T, after removing the OEM spoiler. I got it from a junkyard.

I seem to recall that the third brake light assembly is in two pieces, and you slip the top housing off the bottom to replace the bulb. There are two contacts that allow this to occur. One of those contacts was almost burned through on mine.

I mention this as an additional place to check. Others mentioned the bulb contacts themselves may be corroded.
