Check engine light 850 1994

About a month ago, the check engine light came on. I took it to the shop and the mechanic said that it could be some kind of sensor problem. He shut the light off and said if it came on again, that he'd have to replace two sensors. A week or so later, the light came back on. I was just about to take it to the shop next week when the light went out on its own.

Should it still be replaced? Should I wait for the light to come on again?

Thanks.

a.
