New CD player positive lead connection 850 1994

I have a new CD player for my 850, and it came with the "adaptor" to hook it up to the Volvo radio/speaker harness. The CD player has a very hefty positive lead (maybe 12 - 14 gauge)and an equally hefty ground lead. I do not think it is a good idea to put that to the Volvo connector, which has all 16 - 18 gauge wires. I can take the ground directly to a ground; my question is, where is a good place to tap into a positive (direct from the battery). That hefty wire in the CD player has a 15 amp fuse in it, so it is obviously made to carry some current, possibly for the CD player motor?
