Spare tire 850 1995

I had occassion to use the "spare" tire on my 850. I was appalled by the look of the thing to begin with. The flat was on the rear luckily. You know of course that you shouldn't drive the car with that dinky thing on the front.I found a way around the drawbacks of this piece of ****. I ordered a new steel wheel and mounted tire from the Tire Rack, for $165.00, replacing the Volvo unit that costs $250.00, or more. Somebody 'splain that to me, please. I removed all the filler pieces that were around the "spare", dropped the new unit in place, and I'm ready for the next time, except that now I can go as far, and as fast as I need to.
