manufactured dates vs. model year S70 2000

I noticed that my 2000 S70 was manufactured in May of 1999 and delivered in July of 1999. I never really thought too much of it, but now it seems quite early when most "new" model years are delivered in Sept/Oct at the earliest. I know this was different for the 2001 V70's, but the S70 was not new for 2000, just slightly updated.

Any wisdom out there on this? Did they stop manufacturing the 1999 models in April 1999? I guess i must have one of the first 2000 model S70s.
