thinking about buying a 1995 850 wagon 850 1995

I'm thinking about buying a 1995 850 wagon with 87000 miles. Private party purchase. I have never owned a Volvo before. I took it for a test drive and noted several things. I'm wondering if they are "normal". First, it feels like it has no suspension. On a paved country road I felt and heard every crack and bump in the road. Notheless, the owner said he put new shocks / struts in about 3000 miles back. On that same country road I could hear lots of interior squeaks and rattles. With the heater blower on I heard a squeaking noise when I made right turns. No noise in right turns with the blower off. I could hear a slight scuffing or rubbing sound on a smooth new roadway when at and passing 40-55 mph. Owner made reference to a C/V joint or wheel bearing. I plan to have the car gone over by a mechanic. Any suggestions? Any bugs? What's the reputation of this model and year Volvo?

Thanks for any advice / help!
