AC questions 850

Nice and warm in VA today I assume :) Both temp dials set to maximum, the AC switch is on, the recirc switch is on, means that the compressor should engage.

As long as the clutch on the compressor doesn't have too large a gap. Very carefully, with the engine at idle, use a broom handle and tap the stationary clutch and see if it clicks in. Beware of the S belt, don't touch it. This is a delicate operation, but the only way to verify that your compressor wants to engage but cannot because of the clutch gap.

The real fix for the clutch is too remove it, move the shims from the compressor side and put them on the front side and reinstall the clutch. Due to its location, it is quite difficult.

Let me know if the clutch engages...
