talk about bad luck ... 850 1995

Well I just purchased a 1995 850 volvo with a complete set of maintenance records since like 2000. Just replaced the timing belt, and now I think the HG went on it.

Symtoms:

loss of water (noticed due to low water warning light- pretty cool)
no leaks noticed when running
no water in oil
A slight miss at Idle I just noticed

I think the water is going out the exhaust, but I will verify this tonight with a compression test. However, from what I see, the prognosis looks grim. I never did a HG, so I am afraid the time involved for me to do it will exceed the benefit for having somebody else do it. However, I do have a friend that might be able to assist me. (I need to ask him)

However, this all being said, I am pretty bummed. Luckily, I did not spend too much money on this vehicle. If I do a HG, what else should I do while the car is apart?

A. Install a Big turbo ?
B. Install a header and 3 " down-pipe with a 3 " exhaust
C. Install a chipped ECU ?

or (the reality)

D. - use this time to replace things I normally would not be able to reach.

The car did not overheat, so I should be able to put the head on without any machine work.

BTW, it is a blast to drive.

Bob
