odometer troubles after fixing the gear 850 1996

Hi all,

My odometer broke (1996 850), I bought the replacement gears, fitted them (the small gear in my odometer had indeed broken) and re-installed everything back again and the odometer/trip meter still doesn't work.

I removed everything re-checked and re-installed again still not working.

Is there something else relating to the odometer that can break? Could it be the stepper motor that turns the odometer itself? (the stepper motor is connected via a 4 pin connector, does anyone know how it operates so that I can test the stepper motor while removed from the car (I have a variable power source I could use to power it)

Thanks for your help,
Daz
