1997 v70 central locking maladies V70-XC70 1998

In all of the messages pertaining to your problem, there wasn't any mention of confirming that you had a good battery in the key fob. I had much the same problem with my remote locking system in my '98 V70 several months ago, and the kicker was that I got a noise from the locks but no action. As strange as it must sound, the system was fine - it just wouldn't work unless there was a good, strong signal out of the remote. My troubleshooting included a couple of 'new' batteries, right off the card, but it turned out that these just didn't have the voltage. I went to Radio Shack, got one which I was reasonably confident was fresh, and no problem since then. My RF expertise is too sparse to be able to explain it, but that's how she went. Hope that this helps a bit.

Garth.
