Transmission Control Module Failure? V70T5 V70-XC70 1999

Our V70T5 has the flashing arrow, MIL, and only third and fourth gear. Failure was sudden. Started the car one morning with a low battery and boom.

The codes are P1618 and P0605. They are persistent.

Dealer wanted $300 for a battery cable and $650 for new front O2 sensor. Would not troubleshoot the tranny before we spent money on those things.

Made a new battery cable to the fuse box. Checked the bus wiring between the ECM and TCM (pins B1 and B13) and they had continuity. All fuses are fine. Fluid is fine too.

Can a front O2 sensor fail suddenly and throw off the transmission?

Has anybody had their TCM reflashed/replaced? Any idea of cost? Sources?

Thanks in advance.
