Starting to go NUTS!! V70-XC70 2000

Hello all,
The more I read, the more I get confused. It's about the ATF for my 2000 XC. All I have ever read was I need 3309. Also everything I read says 3309 for 5 speed transmissions. Also everything comes with the heartwarming message of "If you use the wrong fluid you are going to destroy your transmission". So I am finaly wanting to do my trans service. But just before I ordered my case of 3309 I thought i would just verify it again. Now I am not so sure. I don't think I have a five speed. My local dealer(s) have told me dexIII for my car. They supposedly even looked up my VIN. My gear selector says PNRD321. I would think that the D is 4th gear and there is no 5th. Am I correct. I am about to pull out my hair with this. But I am relectant to do that because judging by my brother I only have a few more years of a full head of hair.
So please if you would fill me in to the best of your ability on what I need to buy I would very much appreciate it. Also I know the manula is wrong about using ATF as power steering fluid. But Klaus reccomends a synthetic power steering fluid. My local shops do not carry synthetic power steering fluid. I can order some but if regular fluid(not synthetic) would work that would be easier. What brand is prefered, redline??

Thank you,
Ken
