Instrument cluster failure: Help! V70-XC70 2003

Hi,
Earlier in the week all the dash lights, guages, etc suddenly stopped working on my wife`s XC as she was driving to work. She had the local indie check fuses but all were fine. The SRS airbag service message later came on & she had that reset at the dealer.
The instrument cluster has been working intermittently since then but today was not working at all.
WE have plans to leave for New Mexico on Monday but I am now reluctant to take the car & risk getting stranded in Wyoming.
Anybody else experienced this issue? What was the diagnosis & solution?
