Thanks, Klaus.
I set the timing belt to the mark on the crankshaft pulley, not the crankshaft gear itself. It was the only one I could see.

Today I found the tiny, tiny, little v on the gear itself. It's on the inside edge of the gear, in one of the valleys. Less than 2 mil deep and wide, Id guess. Tomorrow I'll get my digital camera down in there and take a pic to post. I'll have to use the macro setting on the camera (ha ha).

So I assume that the mark on the pulley is for a timing light???

I was VERY careful to put the cams in right. Then, after I thought I had the timing belt right on all 3 marks (2 cams and crank gear), I rotated the crank around a couple of times by wrench to make sure that there was no mechanical interference in the rotation.

Definitely have the plug order wrong (Go here: http://volvospeed.com/Repair/sparkplugs.php). Add to that the total lack of an accurate description/pic of the timing mark on the crank gear, and I feel like the Haynes manual needs to be used as bird cage liner.

Update tomorrow morning.

Norman
