Secondary Air Pump V70-XC70

Gooday Gentlemen!

Any idea what would cause my Secondary Air Pump to come on intermittently,
even though the weather in in the high 70's here in Virginia. No Codes.
I did replace the device where the two vacume lines connect under the shroud
in the radiator are.. did not make any difference... the air pump came on
just as I was about to stop and the engine was hot. I was concerned that the
air pump comming may harm the o2 sensor by the extra air flow forced in by
the pump?

Can I just disconnect the air pump?

And tips would be most appreciated...

TakeCare & Thanks..

Greg
