Purchase Guidance: 95-97 850 wagons 850 95-97

Planning my first Volvo purchase. Can anyone give me guidance on purchasing an 850 wagon. I'm looking for reasonable miles, reasonable price, good performance, so I'm looking @ 95-97 model years. Any major mechanical/other issues between STD, GLT, R models I should be aware of? Any concerns with 5-spd (my pref) vs automatic? I've got my eye on two '97 5spd GLTs, but don't want to be surprised by "known problems".
