Just checked mine (sorry it took me all weekend). I see an "H" and "V" at either end of the holes. The detent gets adjusted accordingly. The adjustment is for the shock suppression dampers inside the unit. In my experience, it makes a big difference having these adjusted correctly.

YMMV, it may be worth noting that not all these Volvo cd changers are created equal. Mine's a 1994 build. The 2000 model in my mothers car is different...
