Like the previous post mentioned, it could be the small button switch on the circuit board itself that is starting to go bad. If you open your remote up so you can see the entire circuit board you'll notice that the remote cover buttons are just flat pieces of plastic that activate even smaller buttons soldered onto the circuit board of the remote. I have an aftermarket alarm on my 850 and the main button (ie. the arm/disarm button w/audible confirmation) on my remote went completely limp and no longer functions. I can go out and solder in a new switch if I can find the right part but I can live with the alternate arm/disarm button w/o audible confirmation (silent arm/disarm) for now.
