850 Crankshaft and Camshaft locks for changing head gasket

Robert,

I do not have my book with me but there is one scanned at http://pliki.mojevolvo.pl/haynes_volvo_850_1992-1996_manual_eng.pdf. The tool is on page 2A*7 (page 39 of the PDF). I agree with you that it is not clear if the tool is necessary when the whole head is removed. I suspect it still is.

I am planning to do the same repair myself over the next 2 weeks or so. Reading the manual gave me a feeling it is a bigger job than I thought. But I still want to do it. Let's exchange notes and stories.

There is another post (some pictures, not too much text) of the job at http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=53085 mainly post #12.

BTW, would you mind sharing the contact to your Volvo mechanic? I live in Dallas, TX.

Thank you,
Peter
