won't start/lawnmower syndrome?? 850 1993

Okay, so i'm addicted to Volvo and will only drive them. But my newest(to me) 850 is going to drive me out of my mind one of these day's. The car has an oil leak which appeared to be from the oil fill cap. So, figuring the gasket needed replacement I headed to the dealer up the street. Also figured while there get the flame arrestor and replace it since PCV might be part of that same problem. Any way, the low oil light came on when I started the car, but I can throw a rock at the dealership, so I went on my way, collected the two parts I wanted and proceeded home. Upon turning the corner at the bottom of my street, the car stalled out. I rolled into my place, parked it, replaced above mentioned parts, and presumed I would have a problem restarting, like lawnmower sydrome type affect, due to low oil pressure and poor lift. So I get in the car and turn the ignition, which turns slow as hell and sure enough won't start. So I floor the accelerator and crank away. Nothing after about 4 minutes or so.
Would appreciate any thoughts before I spend several day's "playing" then wind up at the dealer paying a fortune, or killing my starter and such.
Oh, and I had to replace some of the tubing in the PCV system, which the dealer gave me the wrong tubing for, but it was better than the existing tubing which fell apart on me.
Suggestions and thoughts please.

Thank you all,
Mitch
