Service Light 850 1996

I just recently purchased a 96 850R with 90k miles on it. The service light was on when I bought the car. Since I had a 92 960 before, I figured it would be just as easy to turn the light off as it was with the 960 - Obviously I was wrong. From what I've read, I need a tool to plug into the OBDII port next to the shifter to reset the light, along with getting the codes from the engine. My question is, has anyone purchased a tool to do this? I saw the one on IPD, but $150 or what have you just to reset the light seems a bit much. Is there a tool out there to reset the light and check the codes for a relatively inexpensive amount? I'll spend the extra money if I have to, but I'd rather not.

Thanks for the info,

Matt
