BTDT in part (and I ran the car too - after to make sure it all dries out)

you had or have water in the access holes for the spark plugs, and probably not brand new wires - the water causes a misfire (my guess is that the sparc arcs to the wall of the access hole) I think the cover which protects the wires helps trap some water in there, and the holes are pretty deep, so they can hold a lot of water too
