transverse arm mounting broken? 850 1995

My left rear control arm was moving easily when I was loosening the brake bleeder. It turns out a transverse arm goes across to the right side of the car and if there is a bushing in there it is shot or broken.

Is this a major repair or just a bushing replacement? Does the entire transverse arm need to be replaced?

Does the spring have to be neutralized or the shock absorber removed? Is this a common problem? I've owned the car since new and it only has 90K miles - but then my son has been driving it for the last 2 years. Thanks
