A clean engine is a strong and efficient running engine. Buildups of dust and oil on an engine have a negative effect by trapping the heat that the engine is putting out. Heat reduces efficiency and the longevity of plastic and rubber parts inside the engine bay. If possible, wash/clean the engine, but do it carefully.
