Jim, the rubber gasket in the filler cap tends to deteriorate or dy up and allow the oil to spil. This may be the case with yours as well as the clogged flame trap. The flame trap may also be just fine and the only cause is the $3.00 gasket. Your dealer should have them in stock, since it is a common thing to fail.
