Is front sway bar bonded to rubber bushing? S70 98

In trying to find out why I get a metalic groan when

first starting off I disconnected both of the front sway bar

end links on my 98 S70 T5. I was surprised to see the sway bar

twist and move up (as though it were a spring) when the sway

bar tie rods were removed. I expected the sway bar to rotate

(somewhat) freely in the rubber bushing. Is the sway bar bonded

to the rubber bushing? Is any lubrication needed on or around the

sway bar rubber bushings?

I did not learn too much from the experiment (other the a 70

series feels like the 240 when the sway bar is disconnected).

I still had the noise only much reduced. I'm thinking the

sway bars may load whatever component has the problem and make

it more easily heard. Also, the bushings for the sway bar tie

rod seemed to move freely and both sides felt similar (so I

belive the bushings are ok). Still working on this mystery.
