Factory Navigation Not Working V70-XC70 2004

My 2004 V70 has factory navigation. The unit is now displaying an error message on the dashboard screen to the effect of "unable to read disc." I carefully cleaned and inspected the disc. No visual scratches or evidence of damage. The error continues. Does anyone know if this is likely a disc problem (I am still using the original DVD as it worked just fine). Or is the unit in need of repair just like the music DVD players that seem to only last for so long. If repair is needed, any recommendations on where to send the unit? Thank you
