"Sproing!!" what was that noise???? 850 1996

While driving over a not especially big bump in the road recently, I heard this noise that I swear sounded like a couch spring in one of those old Warner Brothers cartoons or Three Stooges shorts. A "sproingggg" noise, not overly loud but I sure noticed it, although I have absolutely no idea where it came from. If it wasn't my car I would think this really amusing. Ideas anyone?
