Does the ECC control panel pop out? 850 1996

Hugh,

The "A" pillar cover is removed by simply pulling it away. It will still be attached at the "B" pillar, so just let the cover rest on the steering wheel or similar.

You will see that the wires run through a holder. There are several white horizontal locking clips that you open up to route the wiring down to the connector behind the dash.

Maybe your mechanic is not opening the holder and is running the wiring on top. It is probable that when the pillar cover is snapped back in place it pinches the wires.

Normal torsional flexing may cause the pinched wires to chafe and/or break over time.

It's also possible that the mechanic is not making sure that the connector is securely locked.

Ask to see the "defective" sun visor.

This is a very unusual problem and may be installer error.

Bryan
