smoke plume another case of PCV crying for help? 850

>>my mech said there's no PCV on this car since it's a turbo, but I've read >>several posts about cleaning the PCV, and am going outside to look for that now.

You may need to look for a new mechanic. There is no flame trap on a turbo but there is most definitely a PCV "system". There are indeed seals on the front of the camshafts but they normally don't cause smoke, just an oily mess.

I am not a fan of cleaning the PCV system, the oil trap itself is cheap enough and most of the lines will break when you remove them anyway since they get brittle with age. I just replace everything with new. FCP Groton has kits made up but Darrel Waltrip Volvo can sell you the necessary pieces for about the same money as the aftermarket stuff from FCP. If you have not used Darrell Waltrip Volvo they are at (800) 689-0021 - ask for Jamie or Don.
