Oil change S70 1998

I just recently purchased a 1998 S70 T5. I like to change the oil in my vechicles myself. The owners manual recommends a oil change every 5000 miles. I have always changed the oil in my other vechicles at 3500. Since this is my first Volvo I am unsure when to change it. I have read on this site before that most people recommend full synthetic for the turbo Volvos. Help on a particular brand of oil would be appreciated. Looking under the car it appears there are no points to lub. Also, is there anything I need to know about oil changes on this model volvo compared to any another car.

Thank you for your help
