Leaky oil plug 850 1993

Would someone please tell me why the hell these Volvos keep leaking oil from the oil drain plug, even when you use the aluminium washer and torque to factory specs? Has anyone tried a daub of silicone? Does it help? I even replaced the drain plug with a new one - still leaks like a sieve. My friend also has a 1993 850 with the same problem. By the way, he is on his second trans - I'm on my third. He has 157,000 miles on his odometer; I have 151,000 miles on mine. The engines seem to be bulletproof if maintained properly. Looks like this car will outlast my wife of twenty years - She wants to be traded - maybe I rev her engine too much :) Maybe she is due for a new transmission also?
