Head gasket 850 1997

A few days ago I was driving on the highway and noticed billows of white smoke coming out of my tailpipe. It was during the morning commute and only happened when I throttled the engine under load. At cruising speed I wasn't able to detect any smoke. Later in the day when I drove it, there was no sign of smoke and since then I haven't seen anything. It has been a few days now, but does anyone have an idea of what could have happened? Is it a blown head gasket? Any thoughts would be a great help. Thanks in advance!
