glove box latching mechnism pin 850 1993

I had the famous glove box failure several weeks ago. I got it opened unscrewed the latch and sure enough the pin broke.

I am looking for a cheap replacement pin. For some reason they sell fix kits for a fortune. It seems ridiculous considering the pin that causes the glove box to open looks like it's worth about 10 cents.

I don't have access to a junkyard so I figured I check here first before throwing my money away. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.
