questions about axle replacement S70 1998

Dear Brickboard,

I was all proud of myself for replacing the passenger side axle until I noticed a small amount of tranny fluid leaking from where the axle goes into the tranny. It's an automatic, by the way. I ordered a new seal axle and replaced the old seal but still leaking just less. I thought I had the axle seated properly. It went in smoothly with a good solid "thunk" when I pushed it into the tranny. The brace that holds the passenger side axle is lined up perfectly with the mettalic circle on the axle. I'm out of ideas about the leak. Any ideas I've overlooked? Thanks, George
