Re: clutch not smooth sometimes-FLUID ISSUE? V70-XC70 1998

Ok, well, I finally got a chance to just open the hood and poke around. I put my head down by the pedals and pushed the clutch with my hand and the clunk was NOT coming from the spings, but rather the master cylinder area.

Upon close inspection of the fluid (level was fine) I saw what seems to be dirt or some foreign matter in there. I removed the screen/filter from the resevoir and it had some dirt in it. When I wiped it out with a paper towel, there was black dirt on the towel.

My fluid was flushed about 25k ago. My brakes are getting low, but have some miles left and as I said, the fluid level is within specs.

So, should I have the fluid flushed? I'm guessing yes, and if so, any special procedures given these symptoms?

As always, thanks in advance for advice.
