850 vs 940 850

I currently own a 240 wagon and love it. I bought it well used but it has served me well. However, I am thinking about getting a nicer, less worn Volvo. As safe as any Volvo is, A Volvo with air bags must be safer than a Volvo without. I am interested in folks opinion of 940's vs. 850's. I'm leaning more toward the 940 because of a simplier design and price, but I love the 850 look. What about the 960? Are there problems with the 6 cyl? Thanks for any input.
