Driver's side whindshield wiper position S40-V40

I'm replaceing windshield wipers on a 2004 S40.The ones on the car were not original Volvo (Anco). Got a new pair from Volvo dealer and the one for the driver's side has an extra piece of plastic. Should this piece be facing upwards or downwards? There is no instructions,just a picture (drawing) and it looks like it should be downwards but I'm not sure. Can anybody help?
