S80 ball joints replacement S80 2001

How many miles? Original owner?

I forget how the ball joint is oriented on these without looking but I believe you can check them by jacking the car up so the wheel and control arm hang. Then, get a good two arm hold on the bottom of the tire and lift up strongly (don't upset the jack). If you don't feel any play the ball joints are probably good.
(if I'm wrong here maybe some one else will chime in with the correct procedure)

From the description I'd suspect the stabilizer bar links, or the strut mounts. Common weak points on the early S80s (as well as the ball joints and control arm bushings)
