1993 850 5 speed, stay way? 850

Found a 1993 850 with 84k on it and wondering if I should stay away from it since its the first model year. Only reason im thinking about it is because its a stick. Dont really know 850's all that well been into the 240, and 940's. I know a good taken care of 850 with records is good and to stay away from one that needs work or is a cheap deal. I do most of my own work so thats not really a big deal.
