Evap removal question 850 1995

Just wondering, -The Haynes manual doesn't mention dash removal for evaporator replacement. It says that it's the same as removing the heater core, take both panels off beneath the dash, pull carpet back, and pull core sideways out of the housing beneath the dash. Bay 13 and other messages say dash removal is necessary. Which is correct? I'm sure inclined to want to believe the Haynes manual!

Thanks -Chris
