Clutch bleeding 850 1995

Is there anything special that has to be done in order to bleed the clutch on an 850? I changed the brake fluid a couple of years ago the old fashioned way (pump and drain), and ended up with the clutch circuit full of air. I bought a bleeder kit from IPD and tried it again. I got the same results. I kept the reservoir full of fluid, but got air inside anyway. The only way I found to fix it was to put the pressurized fluid into the slave cylinder bleed valve, forcing the fluid back into the system. That worked fine. I have a clutch again.
