The next step requires the use of a OEM 850 trans manual (not basic junk like Haynes) to follow the fault tracing as it's not a common code to me and I won't dare to guess. Obviously your trans shop is clueless if they couldn't even tell you that anything about the code so you'll either need to take the car to a dealership or buy the manual and fault trace it yourself. It can be purchased by calling 1-800-25-volvo.
