The "special tool' is your %$^&! brain 850 1997

What an absurd concoction. They should have made this user friendly on any car they put it on, but they didn't.

Obviously, the asutute owner will *know* when it is time to service his engine.

The special tool I would recommend is to take the dash pad off, yank the "Service" light out of the dash and crush it under your feet into tiny bits for satisfaction.

Putting electrical tape over that area doesn't work too well, because the light seeps out with an annoying glow (and you know what is underneath)

The first time you take the pad off, you figure out the few "sticking" points. Getting the vents out seems like it may be a problem, but they pop out. Then the pad and cluster has to be worked at a funny angle if you don't remove it fully. Or you can disconnect the ABS stuff (using the proper procedure to avoid a reset issue) and take the pad all the way off. I have done both and recommend the latter.

The procedure is out there on the web for dash pad removal. You want one that covers the ABS disconnect/reconnect sequence. The guy that had my car previously went to the stealer after having the pad off, just to reset the ABS.

Or you can fork over a ridiculous amount of money for a tool that is single purpose (actually dual - taking your money is the second one).

Or you can go to the stealer.
