Re: Known Transmission problems S70 1998

Could bad fluid cause the following?

1998 s-70 with about 55k began to feel like it was stuck in winter mode, high RPM and no power. This happened 3 or 4 times. Car also surged once or twice at highway speed. Dealer replaced S-E-W switch (based on a fault code). "Out of warranty - $100" they said. About 1 -2 weeks later, problem returned. Dealer had car two days "could not duplicate at this time" the invoice read. However, mechanic said fluid smelled burnt and suggested a change. No problems for last 2k.
